Get Free and Stay Free
Get Free and Stay Free is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to encouraging current and former prisoners to live productive lives. Our mission is to empower their transformation into law-abiding, honorable members of society, an effort that ultimately promotes public safety and strengthens our communities.
The vision for Get Free and Stay Free was born from the experience of Rich Jacobs, our Executive Director, who recently retired after a 22-year career inside one of the largest maximum security prisons in the United States. Rich’s passion is to publish stories of hope, information, and transformation to one niche market at a time, beginning with those impacted by the criminal justice system. The reason why Get Free and Stay Free is beginning with prisoners…
…As Rich puts it:
“It blows my mind that many old men and women prisoners, primarily those serving life without parole, who live in a 6′ by 9′ cell with a cellmate for the rest of their natural lives, are freer in their minds than people on the outside. Despite enduring the rancid odors of their cellmate’s bodily functions that permeates throughout the loud prison tiers and the violence and drugs that surround them, many have discovered a mental and spiritual freedom that most of us on the outside will never know.
