Get Free and Stay Free
95% of people in prison will come home one day. The question is, will they remain free or repeat the cycle that put them there?
Most men and women behind bars do not want to live the criminal lifestyle. They want hope, purpose, and a chance to do right. Too often, circumstances and a lack of support drag them back into old habits.
That is where we all can step in. Get Free and Stay Free empowers prisoners and returning citizens to build safer communities. We do this by publishing stories of hope and transformation.
The founder of Get Free and Stay Free, Rich Jacobs, has retired from one of the largest maximum-security prisons in the United States. For over two decades, Rich has listened to hundreds of men for thousands of hours. He has witnessed the tension between the security and treatment camps both inside the prison walls and in the public debates outside of them.
But Rich’s mission isn’t rooted in ideology or politics. He does not subscribe to the “hug-a-thug” camp nor does he believe in “lock ‘em up and throw away the key. Rich has walked the fine line between both extremes and has landed squarely where it matters most and that is common sense public safety.
