MEETING AT THE DOOR

Meeting at the Door is when someone meets a prisoner at a prison door when they are released back to society.  When this happens, the former prisoner becomes a returning citizen.  This public safety initiative aims to help the formerly incarcerated become law-abiding neighbors in the communities they return to. The ideal Meeting at the Door relationship begins before and continues after the day the prisoner becomes a returning citizen.  This process can be simple, or it can be complex depending on the needs of the individual.

The purpose of this Meeting at the Door platform, which a small group of diverse volunteers from Yokefellowship Prison Ministry, is to serve as an information hub to encourage more members of society to volunteer in picking up prisoners when they are released from prison.

Are you, your organization, or church interested in volunteering with us in picking up prisoners when they become returning citizens?  If so, please let us know by clicking here.

The United States Department of Jutice tells us that over 10,000 prisoners are released into our communities every week of the year. They also tell us that up to 2/3rd of them return to prsion within three years. We can do better than that!
